The record
The building is the historic Dunham Arts Building, one of three surviving structures of the Dunham Hospital complex in the Price Hill neighbourhood of Cincinnati — described by the venue's resident theatre company as the first municipally owned tuberculosis sanatorium in the United States. It was designed by Samuel Hannaford and Sons as the arts and recreation building for hospital patients, and retains its auditorium, terrazzo floors, bronze entryway and art deco fixtures. The hospital closed in 1973. Sunset Players, resident since 1980, signed a 25-year lease with the City of Cincinnati in 2012 and operate the building as the Arts Center at Dunham. Sources differ on the founding date of the hospital: the operator's event page gives 1897, while the resident theatre company's history gives 1879.
