The record
Built in 1796 and later named for the surrounding crape myrtles, the estate passed through several owners and accumulated tragic family history, including deaths from yellow fever and the unexplained death of William Winter. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is widely promoted as 'one of America's most haunted homes.'
