The record
A 23-floor Beaux-Arts grand hotel on Mellon Square in downtown Pittsburgh, built by steel magnate Henry Clay Frick and opened March 9, 1916 - designed by Benno Janssen and Franklin Abbott to rival Europe's finest hotels. By 1929 it was the largest hotel between Pittsburgh and Chicago. A designated Pittsburgh Landmark (PHLF, 1972) and member of Historic Hotels of America.
