The record
The site of the Battle of Perryville, fought October 8, 1862 - the largest and bloodiest Civil War battle in Kentucky, in which roughly 20,000 Union and 16,000 Confederate troops clashed and an estimated 7,600 men were killed or wounded. Now a Kentucky State Historic Site of hundreds of preserved acres in Boyle County; a National Historic Landmark (NRHP #66000356, 1966).
