HauntStay stay booking terms

The host — the property's owner or operator named on the listing — provides the stay: the property, the rooms, the house rules and everything that happens on site.

HauntStay provides the listing, the booking and calendar software, and takes your card payment for the booking. HauntStay passes the host's share to the host and keeps the service fee shown on your booking.

Your booking is for the dates, the number of guests, and the room or whole property shown before you pay, at the price shown before you pay.

The check-in and check-out times, sleeping arrangements, house rules, information about investigations, tours or events on the property, hazards and accessibility features, and recording information shown on the listing are the host's own answers. HauntStay records them and shows them as the host gave them; it does not inspect the property. A copy of these answers is kept with your booking exactly as you saw them.

HauntStay reviews listings before they can be booked here. That review is not a guarantee that a property is safe, accessible, licensed, permitted, insured or legally compliant, and it is not a finding that a property is haunted.

Where the listing shows recording information, it is the host's or the building operator's own statement, shown as theirs. HauntStay does not inspect devices and makes no statement about whether any recording practice is lawful.

If the host has set a minimum guest age, you will be asked to confirm that everyone in your party meets it before you pay. That is your confirmation; HauntStay does not check anyone's age.

Before you pay you see the nights, any cleaning fee, any extras you chose, and HauntStay's service fee as separate lines, and the total you will be charged. The service fee is calculated for each booking and is added to the host's price; the amount shown on your booking is the amount charged.

HauntStay does not calculate, add or collect any tax on stays. The total shown has no tax line, and HauntStay makes no statement about whether any tax applies to your stay.

Payment is taken by card, once, when you complete checkout.

Each host chooses one of four HauntStay cancellation policies for their listing. The policy shown before you pay is fixed onto your booking; a later change to the listing does not change it.

Flexible: Cancel at least 7 days before your check-in date for a full refund of the nights, cleaning fee and extras, or at least 48 hours before for 50% of them; after that, no refund. The service fee isn't returned when you cancel.

Moderate: Cancel at least 14 days before your check-in date for a full refund of the nights, cleaning fee and extras, or at least 7 days before for 50% of them; after that, no refund. The service fee isn't returned when you cancel.

Strict: Cancel at least 30 days before your check-in date for 50% of the nights, cleaning fee and extras; after that, no refund. The service fee isn't returned when you cancel.

Non-refundable: Non-refundable: if you cancel, nothing is returned — not the nights, the cleaning fee, the extras or the service fee.

Days are counted to midnight at the start of your check-in date, in the property's time zone.

If you cancel, the service fee is not returned. If the host or HauntStay cancels your booking, you are owed a full refund, including the service fee.

A booking can be cancelled online only before your check-in date begins at the property. Once the stay is under way, contact HauntStay support.

When a refund is due, it is started when the booking is cancelled and shown as in progress until our payment provider completes it; card refunds can take several business days to appear. You are never refunded more than you paid.

These stay booking terms describe how a stay booked and paid for on HauntStay works. HauntStay's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply to your use of HauntStay.
