The record
The Brickhouse Inn incorporates the Welty House, whose grounds saw intense fighting across the three days of battle and were used by Confederate sharpshooters. In the aftermath, the site briefly held the graves of dozens of Union and Confederate soldiers before they were reinterred. The brick still bears bullet scars from the battle. Now a bed-and-breakfast, it is reported by guests to be visited by soldier apparitions, with accounts of disembodied voices and low murmuring, described as more frequent at night.
