The record
The George Taylor House in Catasauqua is a 1768 Georgian stone mansion built by George Taylor, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971 for that association. Covered in thick slaked-lime stucco and set near the old Lehigh Canal, it passed through several prominent early owners before the Borough of Catasauqua acquired it in 2009; the George Taylor House Association operates it today with tours and events. Its Revolutionary-era pedigree and long history have also drawn paranormal investigators — volunteers have reported cold spots, unexplained voices, and an apparition described as a young girl, and the house was investigated on a nationally televised paranormal program. Those accounts are presented as reported experiences rather than documented fact; the verified history is the house's place in the nation's founding as a signer's home.
